On September 14, 2023, Willenken partners Kenneth Trujillo-Jamison and Jason Wilson will present an in-person CLE presentation titled “Influencers and Brand Promotion – IP Issues for Negotiating for Sponsored Content,” at the 2023 Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Chicago Summit.

Kenneth and Jason will be joined on the panel by Nina Freedman, Senior Counsel, Commercial Retail and Intellectual Property Legal at Walgreen Co.

Social media influencers occupy an ever-increasing role in the marketing and promotion of consumer products. Consumer brands often partner with influencers to increase the visibility of their products, and influencers seek status, money, and visibility—all while preserving their authenticity. Social media companies also play a critically important role by providing the platforms on which influencers broadcast their content to their followers.

This CLE presentation will address the unique intellectual property issues, considerations, and challenges that are at play, and the pitfalls to look out for when negotiating for sponsored content in order to effectively promote a brand on social media platforms.
