The attorneys at Willenken not only win cases—they also win trivia contests.
Jason Wilson, partner, and Sherin Varghese, staff attorney and e-Discovery manager, competed on the Japanese American Bar Association (JABA) team in the 24th Annual Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA)-Los Angeles Trivia Bowl on October 18 at the Nishi Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Little Tokyo. The competition was fierce, but the JABA team successfully ended the Los Angeles Times’ four-year winning streak and took home the 2019 Rice Cup Trophy. JABA was last the Trivia Bowl Rice Cup Champion in 2014. Since the contest began in 1994, the team has won a total of eight years, more than any other team.
The AAJA-Los Angeles Trivia Bowl is an annual fundraiser for scholarships, fellowships, stipends, and programs, and JABA is a sponsor of the event. Jason Wilson is a member of JABA and previously served as its director. Jason and Sherin are both trivia buffs, as Jason has competed on television game shows “Win Ben Stein’s Money” and “Winning Lines,” and Sherin participates in weekly local trivia contests.
