THIS WEEK 1 May
  • May 1, 2024 - May 3, 2024
  • All Day Event
  • Hilton Cleveland Downtown, Cleveland OH

On Thursday, May 2, partner Amelia Sargent will present on Litigation and ADR at the 2024 Legal Issues in Museum Administration (LIMA) Conference. The next day, Amelia will speak on ETHICS: Issues in Legal Ethics for the 21st Century.

The annual LIMA Conference is the go-to gathering for museum professionals and counsel to receive guidance on the key legal issues facing museums today.

The “Litigation and ADR” breakout session covers everything in-house counsel need to know about litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including receiving and responding to subpoenas, demand letters, and complaints; issuing litigation holds; the relative risks/benefits with litigation as opposed to mediation or arbitration; hiring and working with outside counsel; and engaging in discovery.

The “ETHICS: Issues in Legal Ethics for the 21st Century” panel addresses the ABA Model Rules and guidance on the latest hot topics affecting today’s legal practice, such as using generative-AI for work, starting a side hustle while practicing law; and leveraging social media. The model rules that will be highlighted during the discussion are: Rules 1.1 (Competence); 1.6 (Confidentiality of Information); 1.7 and 1.8 (Conflict of Interest); 5.1 (Responsibilities of a Partner or Supervisory Lawyer); and 5.3 (Responsibilities Regarding Nonlawyer Assistance).
